Roberts Families,
Welcome back from winter break! I hope you had a restful, relaxing, and enjoyable time with your loved ones. We are excited to be back at school and ready to continue our learning journey.
As we start the new year, please note that mid-year assessments will begin on January 6th. We will be assessing scholars in literacy and math, and I am eager to see the progress our scholars have made since the beginning of the year.
Important Dates:
Martin Luther King Jr. Day is on January 21st. The district celebration will take place on Monday, January 21, from 10:00 AM to noon at the Goodrich Theater. Several of our scholars will be participating, and we invite you to come and see their talents on display.
The 1st semester ends on January 17th. Report cards will be sent home with your scholar on January 24th. They will also be bringing home their I-Ready assessment data. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions.
Incoming Events:
Topper Pizza Night Fundraiser is scheduled for January 8th. We encourage you to participate and enjoy some delicious pizza while supporting our school.
I am looking forward to a great second half of the year!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Prozanski
At Roberts we want to encourage all students to develop a love of reading. The graphic below demonstrates the impact time spent reading or listening to stories has on a child's success at school. Hopefully you can find time to make reading a part of your routine.
Physical Education- During the month of January, all students grades K-5 will be participating in Roller skating! Students look forward to this unit every year. Skates, helmets, and wrist guards are provided. However, if students have their own helmet they are encouraged to bring it. Please work with your child on learning how to tie their shoe laces as this is one of the biggest challenges when it comes to getting their skates on. I will be sure to share photos of their amazing skills on Seesaw. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
Mrs. Raddatz
Art- During the month of January, we will be working on a variety of 3D art projects. 5th grade will be glazing the ceramic pinch pot sculptures they made earlier in the semester. 3rd and 4th grade will be starting their ceramics projects–3rd grade will be making coil pots, and 4th grade will be making slab-built mugs. Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade will be starting the month out with some model magic sculptures of animals!
Mrs. Cowles
Music-In music class, 3-5 will begin their instrument units! 3rd graders will start recorder and have an opportunity to put their note reading to work! 4th and 5th graders will begin to play the ukulele! Students will be learning some basic chords and strumming patterns in 5th grade, while the 4th graders will begin with plucking and single melody lines. K, 1 and 2 will focus on pitched percussion instruments and connecting solfège pitches to the bars on the instrument.
