Updates from the office

I would like to wish all the Roberts families a Happy Holidays and a great winter break. We will be off from December 23 to January 1st and classes resume January 2nd. As winter is coming please remember to send your student(s) with winter gear.

Per school board policy po8390, dogs are not allowed on school property unless it is an approved service animal. You may see Rose our school therapy dog at school. Rose has gone through special training to support school staff and students and she has been approved by Dr. Fleig to be on school property.

Note from Principal Prozanski

Dear Roberts Families,

As we continue through this season of thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to express how truly grateful I am for our amazing students, dedicated staff, and supportive families here at Roberts. The spirit of gratitude is strong, and I am reminded daily of the wonderful community we have built together.

As we approach the final few weeks of the semester, it is important for all of our students to stay on a routine. These next three weeks are key to finishing strong before the winter break. Consistent meal times, early bedtimes, and plenty of physical activity will help keep students energized and focused. It’s also important to allow for moments of relaxation and downtime—balance is essential!

We have a few important events coming up:

  • Holiday Concert – Our annual Holiday Concert is on December 12th at 1:30. We’re excited to showcase the talents of our students and celebrate the season together.

  • Access Testing – Access testing will be happening throughout the month of December for some of our students. This is an opportunity for our students to demonstrate their growth in learning English, both speaking and writing. If your child is participating in Access testing please make sure they are well-rested and ready to give their best effort.

  • Donuts with Grown-Ups – On December 13th, we’ll be hosting Donuts with Grown-Ups. It’s a special time for students to share breakfast and enjoy a morning together with their family members. We hope to see many of you there!

As we celebrate our unique traditions and prepare for the holiday season, I wish each of you a joyful and peaceful time with family and friends. May your holidays be full of fun, relaxation, and safety. We look forward to seeing everyone back in 2025, recharged and ready for another great year ahead.

Thank you again for all that you do to support our school community. Have a wonderful holiday season!

Warm regards,
Cathy Prozanski

Message from Mrs. Jones, TOSA

In preparation for the cold weather and snow, please make sure to label your child's winter gear; it is much easier to return if it gets lost. Please take a moment to remind your child; no boots, no snow pants, no playing in the snow. In addition, please remind your child we do not throw snow at school. We want everyone to enjoy the snow and stay safe.

What's happening in...

Kindergarten

We have seen a lot of growth with students knowing their letter sounds! We are working on segmenting and blending CVC words (ex. /c/ /a/ /t/ makes the word “cat”). We’ve also seen improvement in our number writing, keep up the great work!

1st

The first graders are working hard on finding tricky words in their reading and building their reading stamina! We are also learning all about nouns-common and proper! They are also practicing efficient math strategies to add and subtract within 10 and 20 and building an understanding of place value with tens and ones!

2nd

We are working hard on their new skills unit. They are tackling short and long vowels along with all the different ways to spell one sound. They are very excited about their Greek Myth unit in knowledge and can share a lot about the Greek Gods and Goddesses.

3rd

We are working hard to use place value in estimation and rounding numbers to the nearest 10 and 100. We are also working on analyzing writing to form opinions and give evidence from the text to support our opinions.

4th

Fourth grade is working hard on adding and subtracting fractions and making equivalent fractions.  In CKLA, we’re  beginning our Unit 3 on Poetry.

5th

We are working on place value and decimals during Unit 3 of math. In CKLA we are working on examining the fiction genre through a classic novel, Don Quixote. We will focus on the development of plot, characters & literary elements over the course of the novel.
